6 Days before Christmas
Past 5:00 in the afternoon yesterday, I hopped into the car (Raphee’s car) on the way to Kevin’s house for our annual Christmas Party. And as his Dad skillfully traverses the unfamiliar streets (at least to me), I quietly watched as the sky turned gray, as if signalling the end of another day. I sighed a deep sigh and thought in disbelief of what had me occupied during the afternoon. Now let me tell you what.
I had a quick lunch before leaving the house at around 12:30 high noon. Little did I know that Raphee wanted us to have lunch together and so, he left their house with an empty stomach. I really feel guilty about this until now. Especially because I was so caught up with my shoe problem that I didn’t took him seriously when he told me that he wants to eat. In turn, we did not bother having anything except a cone of McDonald’s Strawberry Ice cream in TriNoma. I’m really sorry dear. :((((
Before TriNoma though, we two met up in UP and went to The Chocolate Kiss Café to buy a cake, a gift we ought to give to the Bureau of Soils people. But as I make my way to the café, I felt something weird with my shoes. And as I took a peek on it, I saw it. A crack beyond repair. And while I didn’t went hysterical, I found it difficult to walk afterwards. This is the shoe problem I was referring to above and the picture on my previous post. You see, I haven’t used that pair for the longest time. I only decided to slip them on one last time because I can’t seem to find the perfect pair to go with my outfit and there they went, completely destroying it. Trying to be discreet about it, we pushed through with the plan, entered Chockiss and went out of it with a Carrot Cake at hand.
Then it was time to deliver our sweet present. Not much has changed in BSWM except perhaps the Christmas decorations, which of course, weren’t there during our summer OJT days. I knocked on the door of the office and regretted it the moment I did. I almost felt embarrassed because the Ma’am at the front desk doesn’t seem to remember us. But then again, I don’t remember her name as well. Good thing Ma’am Betty was there and she was still her jolly self when she welcomed us. I was even surprised when she called my name. I have never considered myself as someone who makes a lasting impression, so I always find it touching when people remember my name. :”>
Our next stop was at the malls of North EDSA. Went first to look for a new sandals for me to wear and lucky us, I know just the place and the pair! I’ve got my eyes on So! FAB flatforms ever since I first saw them a month ago in The Ramp Crossings. Imagine that added height they give you without compromising the comfort that flats offer. I know, perfect! With them on, I was game for the last minute Christmas shopping that followed afterwards.
Went to pick up the personalized gifts that we ordered last Friday. Apparently though, there had been some miscommunication between the saleslady and their worker. To cut the story short, the gifts were not yet done and knowing that we need it already, she offered to make another set of gifts. While waiting, I asked Raphee to accompany me for a quick underarm wax. And of all the things that we did yesterday, I think this is what I find sweetest and most memorable. Haha!
The moment we entered the salon, Raphee’s nose wrinkled. He complained about the smell which I already am used to. It’s the smell of shampoo and hair chemicals that they use to style one’s crowning glory. Nonetheless, he insisted on staying with me and endured the unpleasant smell inside. After waxing, which only lasted for around 10 minutes, I went out of the waxing room to find that Raphee’s fast asleep on the salon’s couch. He’s so cute! Just looking at him like that, sleeping inside a salon, embracing my shopping bags, and patiently waiting for me gets me kilig. Hihihi!
After which, we went back for the Christmas gifts then bought paper bags to wrap our exchange gifts. Since I wanted to maximize the P800 limit set for the presents, I bought Nikki’s second wish, which was a book. We then went back to TriNoma for our last stop which is at Conti’s, where I bought my food to share. Upon Raphee’s suggestion, I got a Mocha Torte and Mango Tart.
I was already very sleepy when we headed to Raphee’s humble abode to get everyone’s favorite pasta. I quietly sat there as everyone in the household was busy preparing the food. I wanted to help but I have got not the guts to take the initiative. Haha! I’m shy like that and got even more shy when his mom handed me a lot of things, souvenir items from her work. Later on that evening, Raphee told me that his mom finds me mabait. This is contrary to what she expected which is someone who is, well, snob.
Past 5:00 in the afternoon yesterday, I hopped into the car (Raphee’s car) on the way to Kevin’s house for our annual Christmas Party. Raphee wasn’t allowed to bring the car because of the danger that is Commonwealth, that’s why it was his Dad who drove us to the place.
We then reached the house, had a little chit-chat with my friends then finally, dinner! I hadn’t realized that I was so hungry until I saw the line of food at the kitchen. It was as good as a buffet. The event proceeded as usual. After everyone had their share of good food and laughter, we went into the exchange gift. It was Angela, once again, who got me and she gave me a floral shoes from Jellybean. I still owe her a coin for that. Had a lot of group pictures c/o my ever-so-trustworthy-except-on-occasions-like-this camera. A lot of blurry pictures. I should’ve used flash. :| Watched a movie which I didn’t get to finish because I had to go home around 10:30 PM. Technically, I’ve been out of the house almost the entire day so I don’t want to abuse my parents’ leniency. But I really wanted to stay longer and take more pictures. Memories.
